A: The Z Car Club Association (ZCCA) is a 501(c) not-for-profit umbrella organization founded in 1990. It serves as the primary liaison between grassroots regional Z-Car clubs, Nissan North America, and the global Datsun/Nissan enthusiast community.

Q: How is the ZCCA different from my local Z-Car club?

A: Your local club is the group you drive, wrench, and attend local meets with. The ZCCA is the national governing body that supports those local clubs with liability insurance options, vendor discounts, standardized car-show judging guidelines, and is responsible for the annual International Z Car Convention (ZCON).

Q: Do I have to own a Z-car to join a club?

A: Not typically, but what's the fun of not having one? 🙂 While most members own a Datsun or Nissan Z, clubs typically welcome anyone passionate about the platform—including prospective buyers, former owners, and general Japanese classic/sports car enthusiasts.

Q: Which Z-car models are recognized?

A: Every generation of the Z lineage is recognized and celebrated, including:

• S30: Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z

• S130: Datsun / Nissan 280ZX

Q: Does my car need to be in showroom condition or heavily modified to participate?

A: Not at all. Z-car clubs cater to all build styles and conditions, including bone-stock restorations, daily drivers, ongoing garage projects, track-focused autocross cars, and full custom builds.

Q: What kinds of events do Z-Car clubs host?

A: Local clubs regularly organize scenic cruises, canyon drives, "Cars & Coffee" meetups, DIY tech days, autocross and track days, driving clinics, regional judged car shows, and charity fundraisers. Events vary by region and club involvement.

Q: What is ZCON?

A: ZCON (International Z Car Convention) is the premier annual multi-day gathering hosted by the ZCCA in different host cities across North America. It features track days, autocross competitions, scenic group tours, banquets, guest speakers (including Nissan executives and racing legends), social events, and a 300-point judged car show.

Q: What are the perks of joining a ZCCA-affiliated club?

A: Members get exclusive discounts from aftermarket parts vendors and partners (e.g., Concept Z, Motorsport Auto, ZSPEC Design, Hagerty, Discount Tire, Resurrected Classics, SAC City Auto...), reduced registration fees for ZCON, direct access to local Z expertise of other members, and participation in other Club events.

Q: What if there isn't a Z-Car club in my area?

A: You can start your own, or join the ZCCA directly until critical mass of enthusiasts help to create one. The ZCCA provides a New Club Support Program to help guide you through writing bylaws, setting up leadership, and becoming an officially sanctioned chapter.

Q: What's the difference between ZCCA and other entities trying to create Clubs or social-media based groups?

A: The ZCCA supports YOUR intended direction for your club...granted with some structure to help you succeed. We do not dictate the name of your Club, your events or how you generally operate. However, the guard-rails of the ZCCA club structure. And...we're not-for-profit...unlike other entities focused on building membership to gain personal profits. The ZCCA is an association of volunteers working for the Z community - we are NOT a for-profit business like other entities.
